Buchanan County Jail Roster
The official Buchanan County inmate records portal is the Buchanan County Sheriff's Dept Inmate Inquiry. Research identified it as a New World Systems / Tyler Technologies roster. It is free to search and does not require a login. The roster results page inspected on June 19, 2026 showed pagination and a total of 142 public records. The roster did not publish a refresh interval, a maintenance window, or a fixed release-retention rule.
The roster is strongest for people held in the Buchanan County Jail / Law Enforcement Center. It can also show custody labels that need context, such as a sample prisoner type of "State Prisoner" inside the county jail profile. A person already moved to Missouri DOC custody should be searched through the Missouri DOC Offender Search. Federal and immigration custody are outside the county jail roster and require the BOP or ICE locator.

The inspected sample profile showed header name, demographics, aliases, multiple booking-photo links, booking history, scheduled release date when entered, prisoner type, classification, housing facility, total bond or bail, booking origin, bond rows, court information, and a charge table. It also showed court dates tied to Missouri State Courts / Circuit Court.

Buchanan County Booking Records

Buchanan County Jail Facilities
The two confirmed detention facilities in Buchanan County are both in St. Joseph but serve different systems. The jail at 501 Faraon is the sheriff-operated local facility. Buchanan County Jail Visitation
Jail visitation has different rules for public visitors, professionals, and attorneys. Public visitors receive one non-contact visit per weekend and must schedule through the Law Enforcement Center lobby or by calling 816-236-8888. Visitors must be at least 18, show accepted current photo ID, and arrive early enough for check-in. Visitors are also checked for outstanding warrants before visiting.
